PROSWELL - KONAMI (2009 REMASTER)
CAT INPUJ101

Konami is the first physical album by Joseph Misra, originally released in 2002 on Miami's now-defunct Merck Records (CAT MERCK010).

This humble (and admittedly immature) album has continued to charm new listeners nearly 8 years - as of this writing - after its debut and remains a favorite among fans of Proswell, despite its flaws.

For this reason, the album was remastered to fit within a more modern context. Care was taken to maintain the tone and feel of the original album.

The final product of this update is the album that Proswell thought he was producing through his boombox (with bass and treble knobs turned all the way up).

The sub-par mastering was not discovered until proper monitoring equipment was acquired. By that time, listeners had already grown to love the unique character flaws of the album.

NOTES

Prior to this album, Proswell's work was written using Impulse Tracker. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impulse_Tracker

The unusual experimental nature of this album is largely due to inexperience with other software synthesizers and unusual tracker-type programs such as Buzz and Psycle.

Only two tracks on this album were written using Impulse tracker, but hundreds of mature tracks written for that platform were available. The choice to exclude these was made because Proswell believed listeners would not take tracked music seriously ... regardless of the successes of MERCK001 through MERCK009, which were largely created with programs like Impulse tracker.

PAY-WHAT-YOU-WANT

If you wish to download this album for free, we ENCOURAGE it. You must click "Buy Album" and put $0 in the price field.

All we ask is that you direct friends to this site so that we can continue to spread this music to those who are likely to appreciate it (the elderly, the mentally ill, etc).

----

10 SECOND PROJECT

Many tracks on this album were part of Proswell's first "10 Second Project" in which he attempted to write a small bit of audio every day, effectively becoming an audio journal.

The most practical way of keeping up with this project was to write snippets as quickly as possible. As a result, almost every song on this album was produced within an hour.

As the "10 Second Project" grew, so did the songs. Eventually the audio journal was full of complete tracks, sometimes multiple songs per day.

Proswell has continued this tradition to this day, though not publicly and with less consistency.

----

SURFACE NOISE

All "surface noise" on this album comes from the original recordings. These clicks and pops were mostly due to poorly written, glitchy software synthesizers / effects.

This note is included here because they have been boosted significantly by the remastering work and may be distracting or cause confusion.

----

ROMANTIC SANDWICHTPE NOISES

The original track 21 "Romantic Sandwichtype Noises" was deemed to be completely idiotic and is not included on this version of Konami. The unlisted track 22 now occupies track 21. Despite discographies, its proper name is "I Rent Sandwiches".

If you know anyone with an original copy of Konami, please direct them to this site so that they may obtain a properly mastered copy of Konami without "Romantic Sandwichtype Noises".

----

REGRET

Until this remaster, Proswell refused to listen to this CD for more than 6+ years due to the very poor mastering job (which he did himself without monitors).

Note to aspiring producers! It is not wise to mix or master a CD on a boombox, go find someone who has monitors!

Proswell now concedes that he likes the album and is able to listen to it without having an anxiety attack.

----

Proswell (Joseph Misra) wrote all of these album and track notes himself in third person.
